UKIP only had one candidate in the by-elections on 1st June according to aldc.org. This was at Wellingborough, Croyland Ward. The result was:
con 655 47.6% down 8.8% lab 488 35.4% down 8.2% ukip 162 11.8% up 11.8% (Anthony Robin Ellwood) green 71 5.1% up 5.1% There was a by-election for West Sussex County Council where UKIP got 12% in 2005 but did not stand this time. |

That's my home town and my family are becoming of the solid foundations being put down there. If the party makes the right decisons on leadership and policies, this will be one to watch in the near future.
Wellingborough is interesting, because it has a Tory vs Labour normal outlook. Labour are leaking votes to UKIP at the moment, the Fib Dems are going nowhere and now Vertiarse has disapeared off the scene, UKIP has a free run there.
