Bluemerle, the question as to why there was a hundred year secrets rule on the Dunblane massacre is claimed to be due to the involvement of a peadophilic/masonic ring to which Hamilton was alledgedly linked to the Chief Constable in that area at the time and also, again alledgedly to the then defence secretary Geoorge Robertson.

Aren't conspiracies fun?

Yup. You have to ask why George Robertson was parachuted into the Lords, then over to the US as Sec.General of Nato within the blink of an eye. He was never the sort of man who appeared a big hitter on the World stage was he?

The files relating to the Dunblane massacre were released in October 2005. They were examined by one of the parents who concluded that they did not justify the various conspiracy theories which had grown up. The reason they were sealed was to hide police and official incompetence in dealing with Hamilton.

As far as the conpiracy theories concerning senior politicians and paedophile rings go, the files offer no evidence to support these claims, from what I've read.

Well, there are those magic words, THE FILES! It is not what you have read, but what is actually hidden somewhere in someone's little blue book or diary. They say no smoke without fire, but I am told by a member of the shooters' rights that there were great difficulties at the time relating to why a particular nutcase was allowed to kep his firearms cert, and that it was 'common knowledge' of his association, via some sort of masonic link, to both the Chief Constable and George Robertson.

It may also be remembered that not long after, there was a major Police operation in the UK to track down and arrest internet paedophilics, and that the list, which memory serves, numbered around 1,300, included "top level politicians". Within days of that report being leaked to the media, which incidently gave it considerable coverage, it quite 'inexplicably' vanished from the major medias.

Now, why was that then?

If this was the case, one would assume that the files relating to Huntley would also have been sealed.

If they have nothing more than police incompetence to hide with the Hamilton case, let them open the files and show us. We're aware of police incompetence, so if that's all it is it's not going to be a big shock.

Strong deterrent is the ONLY answer to most crime and punishment issues. After all the reason we won the 'Cold War' was strong deterrents.
