Default 10 candidates for leadership

I have heard a rumour that there are 10 candidates for the leadership election.
I welcome the choice if these rumours are to be believed but can not think of 10 people who are viable candidates.
Any help with guesses on who they may be

Not much help really ... there are lots of blokes.
No doubt all will be revealed soon enough.
Still, if 'tis true we will have nine candidates, we'll have an interesting contest.

Sonya Porter (the voice of reason) would be good, but health, again, prevents

And Ms. Antoime is a "One Londoner" these days... :P

So how does it work, do we get the choice of all ten or is it narrowed down by the NEC?

I should hope we get to choose between all.
One would think the ONLY reason for the NEC to filter them would be if any had criminal or other undesireable connections.

One interesting question which might (or should) be asked (of those UKIP leadership candidates - if any - who are not members of the EU 'Parliament') is "If you are elected leader of the United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP) - do you intend to try to get selected as a candidate for the next elections to the EU 'Parliament' in 2009?"

This is an important question for those who have posted previously to the forum complaining that the leader (of UKIP) is spending too much time in Brussels.

For those who do not want a UKIP leader who goes to Brussels/Strasberg - this is probably the most important question. Candidates for the leadership of UKIP would have to clearly rule themselves out as UKIP candidates for the EU 'Parliament' to get the support of those UKIP members who want a leader who is not and will not be an MEP and who will be firmly rooted in the UK - making only brief and occasional courtesy visits to the EU headquarters.

That's why I put it in my specimen manifesto which any candidate is welcome to use

Would it extend to a pledge by an MEP not to seek re-election?

As a matter of interest, where do you personally stand on an MEP being a leader?
