The May issue is at the mailing house awaiting distribution. An issue was not produced in March because it was felt that the £20k production and distribution cost could be better spent elsewhere during the local election campaign.

20k for less than 20k members.
I don't think we are getting very good value.

Considering that well over half, if not two thirds of the members are "senior citizens" and are thus entitled to membership for £10, and a small number are students and thus entitled to membership for £10, we're left with perhaps a third of members, maybe more, paying £20. Let's assume a third. 12,000 members paying £10 = £120,000 6,000 members paying £20 = £120,000 Total income via membership = £240,000 If it costs £20,000 for each mailing, with one every 2 months then we're paying half the total income from membership (£120,000) in newsletters alone. |

Geoffrey Kingscott, the General Secretary, said 18k at the meeting in Gloucestershire on Thursday.
If however we don't have 18k members and have less than 12k we're making a loss on membership. Which is ridiculous. |
