I would be interested in discussing and debating economic policy with any of you.
I have posted a poll in "Talk about anything you like" entitled Nationalisation Disaster or Success? Let me all know what you think and what ideas you have for the economy. |

Almost any form of economic activity sanctioned and controlled by the state can succeed if it is ensured market supremacy and protection from the sweaty labour products of any would be competitors from overseas, and the funds necessary to maintain, update and plan for future expectations when possible.
Only since the intervention of the private sector in the NHS, have hospitals suddenly become news stories because they CAN'T FIND THE MONEY TO MAKE ENDS MEET - hello?? What planet are those people on....it is a fecking SERVICE, NOT - repeat, NOT a business. Why does a hospital have to make ends meet, there's no end in fighting the war on disease, and improving health standards, and no army has ever had to justify ITS costs when fighting military battles. |

The NHS need not be run as a profit-driven business but it should be accountable for the way it uses resources. Non-profit does not mean non-business-oriented.
As I have argued elsewhere on my thread `The Welfare State We're In', with ample evidence from the author of the book of the same name, James Bartholomew, we need to change the NHS back to what we had pre-1948: Health care administered locally by the community. |
