Default NEC Proposal: UKIP Councillors Group

NEC Proposal submitted 12th March by Anthony Butcher

PROBLEM
The party currently doesn’t know who its councillors are, doesn’t use their experience and doesn’t provide any support for existing elected officials. UKIP’s ‘Who’s Who’ on the website doesn’t feature any mention of our elected councillors and with the local elections looming this leaves us looking uncommitted to local politics.

PROPOSAL
A UKIP Councillors group will be formed to encourage, support and share the experience of our councillors.

ISSUES
We have so few councillors that it may be embarrassing to list them. However, if we include all of the parish, town, district and county councillors, we will have enough to fill up a couple of pages.

I agree, there needs to be a section of the website dedicated to local government, and a list of councillors should be included.

A main issue arising is that these ideas were submitted over two months ago, in March.

Is the NEC managing its time properly?

Yes, it is managing to block almost every suggestion Anthony puts forward I would suspect.

Shame the membership can't see the results of these votes, so they can see the real road blocks to progress in UKIP.

I think one of the problems is once a councilor is elected or crossed the floor they do not inform the party.

I think the proposal should include something like, no councilor elected or crossing the floor can use the Ukip label unless the are registered at head office.
That way we would have an up to date list at hand.

If they didn't tell us how would we know? That I understand was part of the problem with the woman who lost her seat in the Wirrall, he didn't tell us, thus we didn't know.
