Hmm
The last By-Election in Wales, I think UKIP do not put up a candidate. Don't tell me you are doing 'pretty well' in North Ireland as well :P Have you seen this latest poll (yesterday) 30% in England now want Independend. That's a great deal higher then I though it would be. http://crossofstgeorge.net/news/blog.php

The poll showing 31% of English voters backing independence from the UK (35% in the English midlands and in some households in England 41%) was published today by the Sunday Mail - here's a link:

Excluding Northern Ireland, which you must admit is an oddity, we are an island. Borders in it would greatly boost the EU. Remember the Scottish Nationalist Party has the policy of 'independence in Europe'! We must say no to the EU 'divide and rule' tactics.
English votes on English laws is effectively an English Parliament, just without the costs, and naturally should be constitutionally secure. |

Camoron, has just blown away English Votes for English Matters buy saying it would not apply to Ulster MP's It was an unworkable policy, and now has been well and trully discredited. So thats 41% in Favour of an English Paliament 31% in Favour of English Independence Are you UKIPPERS going to keep putting your head in the sand, don't you see that Devolution * has changed the political landscape in the UK ? Why do you think that BBC England is not reporting these polls, the answer is quite simple it's because the British Establishment is scared, they don't know what to do. Just image what the Polls would be if there was time on air to debate ? We've had 300 years of a sucessful Union, but now it is time to call it a day. * Just to confirm that in 1997 I was a Unionist, and I personally would not have voted for Scottish or Welsh devolution, but living in England, I was not given that opportunity.

I am not saying that an independent England would be weak - it would not be - but that it would boost the EU greatly. This is because Scotland and Wales would be very keen EU members - as the EU would pour cash in to spite England - both probably adopting the Euro. Therefore either we would have borders and currency exchange, or agree to the Schengen Agreement and Euro! I would be against, still, but it would change many people's opinions - not least those of dual nationality, those near the borders, and those dealing across the borders. The EU calls it neo-functionalism - the idea that the EU looks more logical and thus gets supported. It works with small bordered countries like Belgium, not with us because we are an island. We'd be like Belgium however if we had total independence.
An English 'Parliament' to ballance the Scottish 'Parliament' within the overall United Kingdom would be fine however, providing:- (a) It is like the USA, remaining overall as one single nation state but with multiple government 'states/regions/areas' (b) There are no extra costs - i.e. the 'English Parliament' members are the same as the English members of the UK Parliament, etc etc. It would have to be like a federal system. An English, Welsh, Scottish and Northern Ireland 'Parliament' or 'Assembly', perhaps headed by an elected 'Governor'. Then an overall UK Parliament in Westminster, as in Washington DC. Anyone proposing this? |

ED, opinion polls are worthless, as I have stated many times on this forum, the only real polls that matter are at election time, particularly to Westminster. The establishment will only become truly scared when an EDP candidate or similar starts getting votes on the UKIP/BNP scale of things, then they will realise that the time to act is nigh, probably pull the rug on parties like the EDP.
Campaigning solely for an English Parliament is not good enough, it has to be for something bigger, more meaningfull; full independence, nothing more, nothing less. |
