Default New Leadership Poll

I posted a leadership poll a few months back. Lets see whats changed.
Some in the poll have already stated their intention to stand others i have merely put there. Hopefully potential leadership candidates who are not quite sure to stand or not will be encouraged to stand going from the results

The accuracy of any poll depends heavilly on the sample size.
It also depends on the question posed, and how it is posed.
It also depends on where the sample is chosen and how it is chosen.

Do you think the poll on this forum is anywhere near resonable with the size of the sample?
Do you think there can be severe distortion because the sample is not only small but is interactive, giving positive feedback for a particular person?

In short: isn't it only to be considered a bit of fun?

It isn't RocketScience.

Its as simple as being a poll to see who people feel should lead the party

Absolutely! There are many UKIP members who are not computer litterate, so they would have never heard of this forum let alone this poll! Infact as a poll even for the number of people posting on this forum it is pretty poor! I think Petrina would ber pretty disappointed at only 15 votes and Nigel would his socks off at only getting 1.

It is all a bit of fun

There was a famous poll, years back in USA, that predicted a Republican landslide. They lost. The poll was conducted by telephone, and most democrat voters were too poor to have a phone...

Interesting to note that after almost 2 weeks this poll has attracted 4 post (well 5 now), 282 visits and a grand total of 33 votes. Hardly a massive endorsement for the influence of this forum.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy visiting and making the occasional post but I think the people posting topics like "Should Candidates be given black marks for not having a website" are actually spending to much time on line and not enough in real life.

I have read the posts by the Lechlade Group as well and they are (in my opinion) in danger of believing their own publicity. If there are 18,000 members of UKIP (or whatever the number is now) then there are at least 20 UKIP members who never read this forum for every one that does.

Discussion boards and forums are all very well but they actually reach only a tiny number of people. It is like the argument over how you reach the people who do not vote to convince them they should. Well the answer is "you can't" because they do not care enough about what is going on to get off their fat backsides and put a cross on a piece of paper. Not even postal voting, the supposed saviour of our democracy, has actually increased turn out by any noticeable amount. The people who vote still vote, they just do it by post now instead of in the polling station.

So less navel gazing and more real life. I wonder if many regular posters on this forum would be better off if they got themselves a girl friend, or took up golf, or anything to get them out more.

Am I correct in believing that only those who are registered can vote? If so this would explain the shortage of votes to visits.

Alternatively, nobody wants to vote for any of the above.

Can we have a 'none of the above' option, please.

If you know of somebody who is interested in standing then let me know and I can arrange to have them added.

Both these polls prove this forum is looked upon by most posters as a bit of fun to wind each other up and in no way represents the feelings of the UKIP membership as a whole! 40 votes from 1,000+ posters with the hot favourite Petrina getting 16 of them can hardly be classed as overwhelming! Of the 1,000+ posters on this forum, many are batting for other teams so I can understand the name change. Nobody with any serious clout in UKIP is going to debate UKIP policy on an open public forum such as this. So keep posting folks but remember the "Clapometer" is just for fun
