Independent UKIP has some supporters
Default Suffolk County Council - Pakefield by-election result

Quote:
2006 result
Name Party Votes %
Peter Guyton Liberal Democrats 397 10.83
Derek Hackett United Kingdom Independence 592 16.14
Terence Kelly Labour 1097 29.92
Kenneth Sale Conservative 1338 36.49
Ann Mary Skipper Green 243 6.63

Majority 241
Turnout 3683 32.5
True turnout was 3667; presumably their figure includes rejected ballots. I didn't include rejected ballots
when assessing the vote shares listed above.

UKIP didn't contest this ward in 2005 but for reference the highest UKIP Suffolk vote share in 2005 was 9.26% in Row Heath.
Please note that UKIP beat Lib Dems and Greens here in 2006. Compared to 2005 Cons were slightly up, Labour were well down as
were Lib Dems, and Greens pretty well unchanged. Notionally at least UKIP gained at the expense of Labour and Lib Dems not
the tories.

Britannist has some supporters
Default UKIP do well in Suffolk

I think Mr. Hackett did very well for UKIP in the Pakefield ward. He got over 16% of the vote. The europhiles would be getting very worried if UKIP was polling that level of support in some constituencies in a General Election.
