Well done UKIP. We just need this sort of press release on other issues.

I really hope the Government does deport some EU citizens and gets sued.
I am amazed that in the press no one has published our release.

The Directive that UKIP made a Press Release on came into force on 30th April 2006 as stated.

This Directive has been around for a while now and in no way can it be viewed as a big deal or coup by the UKIP Press Office or Officer.

Directives are not made and issued in one day, some Directives take years to implement, most take many months.

Perhaps, this is the main reason that the Media just do not pick up our rare UKIP News releases.

This "News"as presented by the Press Office is old News to the Media.

However,to the rank and file UKIP Members who are normally starved of information from the PO anything they release is gobbled up and is accepted as being up to the minute.

Newly Researched? Hardly.

Perhaps it isn't 'new', but it is suddenly very relevant.

Well said Anthony and an excellent suggestion by Michael Mcgough. Why do we find it so difficult to be positive?

It has been very relevant for a long time now.

EU 2004/38 was Adopted on 29 April 2004 and had to be implimented by 30 April 2006.

UKIP Press Office showing this as a News Release implies that they have just got this damning info thru hard work and resourses at expense to the Party or PO is not reliable and even misleading to some.

Google eu directive 2004/38,go to NEWS results, look at the 5th/6th paragraph,or read it all.

This is further proof of how they take us all as fools and inconsiquential sheeple.

Just like Labour do really.

What do you think, that it's been sat on my desk for 2 years waiting for this story to break?

What exactly do you think constitutes news? Do you think that the Home Secretary making a promise to parliament which he can not fulfil because his predecessor signed his power to fulfil it away is really not news? That it was a 2004 directive is perfectly clear from its number - the 2004 bit of 2004/38 tends to give it away.

Best regards

Mark

It may well have been relevant for a very long time now, its just that no-one knew how relevant because the Public Accounts Committee didn't find out about the prisoner releases until late last year, and it didn't become newsworthy until last week.

In the 6 months of the British presidency, there were, what, 4,000+ fresh regulations and directives. Assuming they averaged 5 pages a time, and one of us in the Press Office was reading all the time, it would take 208 working days to read 6 months worth of directives. Sadly, and fascinating though it would be, we have other things to do too. the research you mock involves remembering the directive outline, and digging it out when it is newsworthy. I note that you failed to supply the details of this well known and highly publicised directive when the story first broke.

I've typed the above slowly so as to be sure you understand.

Rgds

Mark

Mod comment. Yellow card. Personal insults are still personal insults, regardless of whether the poster has just read the da vinci code or not. Good try though........

No-one has mentioned that during a national political interview at about 5pm Weds 3 May the interviewer interutpted to say..... 'on a Press release just issued by UKIP that Charles Clarke won't be able to deport convicted criminals back to EU member countries. Ruling made 3 days ago...." others in the interview said 'didn't know that.'

I was not able to see/hear any more News that night but it did occur to me if the '...UKIP..' referral might not make it through !!

There appears to be a lack of understanding in the use of PR.

PR is not a paid for space or time allotment. It can be issued, you can work it on the phone through your contacts, you can try to pull favours - final decision is the editor and the policy makers of the programme as to when, how and if it gets used.

Obvious isn't ? Not according to some posts here it isn't.

Well done Mark on this one.
