![]() We CAN NOT WAIT ! A MASS OUTPOURING OF RESISTANCE TO THE BLAIR REGIME "That which you will not resist and mobilize to stop, you will learn – or be forced – to accept." "Date: Friday, 5 May 2006: A massive day of repudiation of the Blair Régime, launching a movement to drive Blair himself from office, and where the whole direction he has been taking society is reversed." Here's a vision for Friday, 5 May 2006, the first anniversary of Blair's re-election. "We, in our millions, must and can take responsibility to change the course of history. On Friday, 5 May 2006 the first anniversary of Blair's 're-election,' we will take the first major step in this by organizing a truly massive day of resistance all over this country. People everywhere will walk out of school, they will take off work, they will come to the high Streets and town squares and set out from there, going through the streets and calling on many more to JOIN US. They will repudiate this criminal régime, making a powerful statement: 'NO! THIS REGIME DOES NOT REPRESENT US! AND WE WILL DRIVE IT OUT! "Friday, 5 May 2006 must be a massive and public proclamation that WE REFUSE TO BE RULED IN THIS WAY." Drive out the Blair Regime! This will be a day that sends shockwaves throughout the world where people step out of the paralysis of politics-as-usual and step INTO phpbb_an unprecedented movement that seeks to change history not pinning its hopes on "leaders" who tell us to seek common ground with fascists and religious fanatics. From now until Friday, 5 May 2006, debate will rage across the city and beyond. Where will you be? What will you be doing? From sun up to sun down the climate and "look" of London and all towns and cities in the U.K. will be charged and alive with the sights and sounds of resistance. University and school students, and aye, their lecturers and teachers, will be leaving schools and universities, marching and breaking others out, coming over bridges, packing subways. College classes emptying, from the public colleges to the elite universities. People from all walks of life pouring INTO phpbb_a massive noon-time convergence, manifesting that from this point forward WE WILL NOT BE RULED IN THIS WAY! And setting out to march from there, spreading the spirit and determination to DRIVE OUT THIS REGIME because WE CAN'T WAIT. The convergence will be a powerful statement of the collective strength of those who have been silenced, stigmatized, isolated, locked down, disillusioned, demoralized, and disoriented. No more! They will rally and call on others to join. The convergence and city will be infused with people bringing symbols or visuals that convey why the Blair regime needs to be driven out (there's no shortage of that). Pictures of murdered Iraqi and Afghani children, tortured prisoners at Abu Ghraib, Fallujah and Guantanamo –and many more -- each with the caption: "Another reason We Can't Wait! Starting now, the Country starts buzzing. "Resist or Die! is in the air, on t-shirts, radio, banner drops, debated in the classrooms and at home. Parents, teachers, and worketrs everywhere start to take a stand in support of the kids walking out without being pinned down, brutalized, and hauled off by the police. Clergy and others in the religious community mobilize. Workers everywhere don't go to work and bring the strength of their ranks to the day; immigrants and people of all nationalities step out of the shadows. Soldiers coming home after witnessing the horrors and hypocrisies the U.K. in partnership with the U.S. is carrying out in Iraq will come to tell the TRUTH and condemn the U.K. (and the U.S.) for their continuing unjust occupation. Librarians, scientists, artists, doctors and health workers, all the thousands and millions who are deeply disturbed and outraged act on this day to begin to meet the enormity of the challenge. The mood as people march from the convergence, will be: "what else is happening, we're not ready to go home yet!" Cultural events, teach-ins, block parties, spontaneous street gatherings, debates in the parks, critical mass bike rides, candle light vigils, street festivals, banner drops, and many other expressions will take place through the towns and cities INTO phpbb_the evening. The night will be a reflection of the day; people will coming together in a myriad of ways, forging organization and a whole ethos and spirit as part of a growing national network and movement -- something momentous that will take off from there -- imbuing people with a sense of "this is what the world needs, I've never seen anything like this before and it's just getting started." On Saturday, 6 May 2006, the day after, the city is infused with people sporting buttons, shirts, posters, stickers, etc, stating to the world that they participated on the day everyone will look back at and recognize as THE DAY THINGS BEGAN TO CHANGE and the people began the resistance that unseated the most corrupt régime in this country has ever witnessed: "I WAS THERE 5th MAY" |
