In libel - and this would have been libel rather than slander because it was transmitted on radio - thers is no need to prove injury to win damages. However it was unlikely to prove a 'goer' for reasons given personally and informally to me by a friend who is a libel barrister. Quote:

I'm interested in the growth of new or small political parties, which is why I follow the fortunes of UKIP closely. I support some of their policies, but not all. The same goes for quite a few other parties too! But what I don't agree with is the idea that all parties other than UKIP are idiotic. Cameron may not be your cup of tea, but isn't interesting to see the extent to which he can 'turn around' the Conservatives? If you're a UKIP party member, isn't Cameron the best thing that could have possible happened? I can't see UKIP being given these sorts of opportunities to exploit if a Liam Fox type character had been elected leader. |

The real reason UKIP is stymied is that if it SUed on the closet racists matter the Tories would at once produce the photo of Farage secretly meeting Deavin and Lecomber of the BNP and the all his contradictory explanations for that. Its all in Private Eye about 1998. Throw in the fact that Farages father was a NF member and so was his agent in Thanet North one Martyn Heale and the Tories would welcome a legal fight.

What possible relevance have the politics of Nigel Farage's father to the matter in hand? Cameron belongs to a party one of whose MPs, the late Alan Clark, stated 'I am a Nazi'. A Tory peer, still a member of the party proclaimed 'I am a racist'. Should we take it then that Mr Cameron is by association a Nazi and a racist and that were I to describe any Tory in those terms he would be unable to sue because of 'guilt by assocation' I daresay even the ID 'resigned member' is a lie. |

I think that there are probably a lot more ex Lib Dems in UKIP than ex BNP/ex NF. Does that mean that UKIP is a Lib Dem front ?
