Default The Flag

In the past my wife and I have been sent free copies of a newspaper called 'The Flag'. In 2005 they came out in favour of UKIP and have run a few positive articles on UKIP. Have other members been sent it?

I've never heard of it  . I wonder if there's anything on the net about it. I'm going to take a look...

Yes, I get it from time to time.

Ex-NF member writes it, but to be fair, doesn't go on about race and condemns the BNP.

The guy is doing a good job.

I know people who have had this delivered -I think without asking for copies.
we need more details about this group to know if it is safe to promote it.
the national front -if it was a connection to the flag newspaper couId be a problem I imagine.
if the flag newspaper staff/editor are on this forum, wouId they like to talk us through their history and what they are about ?

Anderson viewed himself as a "respectable" figure in right wing circles and spent some time at the University of Oxford on two separate occasions (he failed to graduate - though his election leaflets stated he was 'Oxford-educated').
That line makes me laugh. He hasn't lied has he!

He certainly has a bit of history to him! The Flag, while certainly shows elements of "far right" thinking, doesn't go to far......yet.

The Flag started out as "The Newspaper Of The National Front", and remained under the editorship of Anderson when his particular faction metamorphosized INTO phpbb_the National Democrats (which may still be in existence - in a moribund sort of way). His hostility to the BNP may stem more from the fact that most of his active members, including leading BNP member Simon Dudley, left to join the BNP en masse in about 1998/99, than from ideological differences. Others who defected from the ND to the BNP included, I believe, Sharon and Steve Edwards, who later split from the BNP to found the Freedom Party.

I have been getting copies. I don't know who has been sending them to me, the last one asked if I would subscribe. I might well do so.

Wow, Anderson does have an interesting history.

I have been sent the flag and find it robust and interesting and relevant. It reveales things on UKIP the leadership doesnt tell us but is generally pro ( but exasperated with half **** ineffectiveness of ) UKIP. Its fierce anti BNP stance seems to be strangely emoptional rather than intelectual or analytical ( thus explained by posterers comments above )

If you are of the McCarthyist wwitch hunt ilk, a good chunk of the Labour Labour party officials/leadership have extre left wing backgrouns but have moved on. The leader of the Greens in the EU is an ex street fighting rabid fascist anarchist left wing nutter but now respectable.

The Mcarthyist left delight in "rights under the bed" exposees of UKIP etc whilst ignoring "lefts under the bed " in Lib/Lab.

I suggest we stick 2 fingers up to all McArthyists and treat people as they are now and certainly ont be cowed ( while of course being prudently aware of background ).

Hence I see no reason not to support and subscribe to flag ( and also even the Guardian ).
