Yes 'cos quite often one wishes for an extra finger.

No, 'cos the increased number of chords and permutaions thereof would dramatically increase and and that would require more hard work.

One might think pianists would find an extra couple of fingers would come in useful.

And typists.

Not to mention bongo players ...
