Default Lega Nord booted out from the Independence/Democracy group

Lega Nord has been booted out from the Independence/Democracy group in the EU parliament because one of their ministers was wearing T-shirt with one of those Muhammad cartoons.

http://euobserver.com/9/20935

Considering the fact that UKIP is a member of this political group has the party issued any official statement regarding the Lega Nord?

Going on that article, this is the final straw in a number of "issues", rather than the single reason for being booted out.

I would be interested to here what UKIP has to say on this issue though.

Yes, they have contacts to the parties UKIP doesn't prefer to be associated with. Even though Vlaams Belang (formerly banned Vlaams Blok) si more PC even than the UKIP today as they are trying to escape rampaging social democrats wanting to ban them for the second time.

Anyway cartoons were given as the reason to boot LN out.

On the other hand: if there is some good from my presence on this forum I would like to suggest you to keep an eye on this man you are associated with:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vladimir_Zelezny
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indepen...ch_Republic%29
http://www.europarl.eu.int/members/e...ge=EN&id=28357

As you can see from the first link he is considered to be "a bit" controversial - his handshake is already considered to be a grip of Death among the Czech politicians. Anyway he is in EU parliament only to be saved from the criminal investigation. But as far as I know he has already been striped of immunity in EU parliament.

It is widely expected that the day he will be indicted quite a few political carreers among more parties here will come to their end a quite a few criminal investigation will be subsequently launched. This is very probable scenario as our governing social democrats are trying to speed the proccess up in order to roast political oponents a bit . It is quite possible that this story will generate headlines even abroad and in such case UKIP could get its portion of collateral damage.

He is at large only thanks to his cunning and very expensive lawyers and thanks to the stupidity of some Czech voters ops:.

Anyway you are associated with pretty nasty man in EU parliament

Well if/when anything is proven, I trust UKIP will take the appropriate actions.

Sadly, in the world of politics (especially but not exclusively at EU level), there seems to be a lot of shady characters.

Yes, I do not think that your party is in bed with him. But this man is expected to go up in rather near future and a lot of pretty nasty things will come onto the daylight causing some major political earthquakes here. It will be a lot of stuff for Prague correspondents to write about.

So you have good reason to watch him (and his "rendezvous" ) and not to stay too close to him - especially on the day of his "Big Bang".

Default Independence / Democracy group collapsing?

Lega Nord booted out, League of Polish families not joining newly reformed Independence / Democracy group which has now only 22 members (19 is the limit to be acknowledged as a political body in the EU parliament).

I believe that David Lott will be issuing a Bulletin from Brussels next week which should contain all the neccesary info re this matter.

I understand that the decision by the I&D Group to boot out Lega Nord was based on the extreme anti Muslim material which has been ops: issued by them in their domestic General Election.
