I have just learned that someone is spreading a rumour about myself regarding my membership of the South West Counties Committee. Apparently I have missed seven of the SWCC meeting in a row, with the obvious implication that I am unreliable.
Can I correct this and point out that I was only very recently elected to the SWCC, as an alternate (i.e. secondary candidate to Martyn Richards), and there have only been two meetings. I attended the second of them. This party is just unbelievable. |

Yes, probably just some individual idiot, with or without an agenda.
It shouldn't be too difficult for you to work out who it is, in principle. If somebody tells you "I heard a rumour that you...", then ask them who they heard the rumour from. Then ask that person who they heard the rumour from. It probably won't take you more than a couple of steps to reach the source, and it is worth nailing these untruths as early as possible. |

I have now been informed that there will not be an investigation INTO phpbb_this. Lawrence Webb, the London Regional Organiser, who passed on the rumour is not even going to be asked who started the 'rumour'.
Apparently it is perfectly normal and expected for candidates to create false rumours about each other and I am just making a fuss. Nor does it matter that a senior UKIP staff member is passing on unverified comments to other members about a candidate. |

My experience of UKIP elections is confined to the Titford/Atkinson leadership election.
I recognise all these tactics. reused because they work. Know of a few more not yet deployed but might yet be. Letters of apology for 'misunderstanding' sent after the election! You should consider preventative action if you intend to stand - not just leave it till the last minute. |

Another poor show from the UKIP leadership.

Depends what the objective is. They are very good at remaining the UKIP leadership. And the most powerful individual is very good at never being the real leader, so someone else takes all the flack.
David Campbell-Bannerman is fresh and bright may well get a grip if helped. |
