Default MEPs, NEC and Leadership

Should UKIP MEPs be allowed to hold positions on the NEC and/or hold the position of party leader?

Yes they should, but personally I would not vote for MEPs for the NEC and the leadership I would have to be convinced that an MEP spends enough time back in Britain to warrant being leader.

The whole EU parliament is a big distraction and that's fine for the people going over there to fight in the heart of the beast. If they are doing that though, I don't believe they can give the party or British issues enough attention, which is what the leaders priority should be.

My personal view is that we need a leader who is present in the UK working to raise the party profile over here.

I feel the time constraints of being an MEP also, and spending long periods of time out of the country mean the party lacks direction and leadership back home.

I agree that it would be possible for the leader to me an MEP if they were the right person so perhaps my views are skewed based on the current leadership.

I know where you're coming from, but I think it's just a matter of time. MEPs have to spend a lot of time not only in the European Parliament but also travelling back and forth.

I don't think that leaves them with enough time to be a good MEP and a good leader, whoever the person is. It's a question of hours in the day.

Being leader is a full time job on its own.

This has my vote - as has been pointed out elsewhere, being the Leader is a full-time job as is being an MEP. We are being short changed. If someone who is an MEP want to be leader the should give up the day job.
