Default Project for the New American Century wtf?

An interesting item on the UKIP website here

Now this is what the Project for the New American Century says about itself:

The Project for the New American Century is a non-profit educational organization dedicated to a few fundamental propositions: that American leadership is good both for America and for the world; and that such leadership requires military strength, diplomatic energy and commitment to moral principle.

The Project for the New American Century intends, through issue briefs, research papers, advocacy journalism, conferences, and seminars, to explain what American world leadership entails. It will also strive to rally support for a vigorous and principled policy of American international involvement and to stimulate useful public debate on foreign and defense policy and America's role in the world.

William Kristol, Chairman

My question: are we supposed to be in favour of America in a world leadership role? Not this scribe!

The American Enterprise Institute for Public Policy Research seems (to me) to be a more reasonable association though.

Although I would prefer it not to be, If there is to be a super power leading the World then give me America over the rest every time. God help us all if China or worst still North Korea ever becomes the super power leading the World! I haven't mentioned the EU leading the World because everyone other than British politicians, know the EU couldn't organize a **** up in as brewery, let alone lead the World!

America's way of leading the world seems to be to destroy everything and everybody which stands in its way.

We don't need any one leader or Country as a world leader - we just need good leaders in each country who can work together rather than against each other.

No single dominant leader would work for that leader's culture, beliefs and perceptions of what is prefereable would contradict those of the majoirity of other countries.

PNAC, like it or not, are VERY influential with the current USA regime. As long as it's US influencing THEM, then I am not bothered.

Dick Morris is clearly involved here, so we need to be careful.

No, that's not fair. The American people, in the main, are good. Their current regime in charge, much like our own, is questionable. Always remember it's the powermongers in charge that are to blame, not the general people.

The fact 1 in 5 people backed Liebour here means you can blame them and the 1 in 2 in America. However, they were brainwashed and scared INTO phpbb_doing it, so don't be too harsh in your judgement.

The American people. yes.
It is not the American people though who seek to rule the world.
When I spoke of America, I meant its head monkeys, which I despise for the charlatans they are.

Trouble with America is - leaders who demonstrate any personal integrity tend to get killed.

Talking of integrity ... Blair was 100% behind Al Gore and now he sucks up to Bush.
He was once very vocal against the EEC and now sucks up to the EU.
I wonder if he once thought Chérie was big-mouthed ugly bat hardly worth considering for a one-night stand, let alone a marriage partner.

PNAC? Let the Americans learn to look after themselves before they try and take on the world.

Their internal organisational ability is doubtful (Katrina) and they have cocked up the peace in Iraq (although the war seemed to go ok).

Most importantly the US Government has generated a great deal of dislike abroad. Whenever something goes wrong for the US there are no shortage of gloaters from other nations.

Leaders do not have to be popular (although it helps). Most importantly leaders need respect and credibility which at the moment, they seem to be lacking.

I agree with Intbel on this

"We don't need any one leader or Country as a world leader - we just need good leaders in each country who can work together rather than against each other."
