Default Bloom Blasts EU Hypocrisy!

http://news.independent.co.uk/people...icle319512.ece

Quote:
* UKIP MEP, Godfrey Bloom. You may remember him as the chap who made headlines last year, for saying - on joining the EU's Equal Opportunities Committee - that modern women "don't clean behind the fridge enough". Yesterday, he brandished a copy of Busty Beauties at a meeting of the same committee. He'd earlier purchased it from the parliament's own newsagent. "I don't think I've sat through an equal opportunities meeting, ever, without them spending an hour talking about the exploitation of women," Bloom tells me. "They drone on and on about it, and sneer because I'm a man. And then their own shop is selling this ... It's the hypocrisy I can't stand. This is another example of the double standards that pervade at the EU."
You have to give it to Bloom. He get's in the papers more than any of our other MEP's.

It wasn't a committee meeting, it was a plenary session. He stood in the middle of the chamber, with Farage and Whittaker sitting side by side next to him in solidarity - and waved the magazine open at the centre spread.

As for getting more coverage - he does well. But this was a Gawain Towler scoop.

I can't wait to go to the next Gender Equality commission and listen to what they say..he he!

He's often in his local Yorkshire rag too.

Tell him to keep it up!

Bloom needs no one telling him to keep it up - and the Yorkshire post is great.

When you read the hemicycle diaries in the Sprout (which you all should do as its the best coverage for stories in Brussels and it's a small business promoting free speech) Godfrey says he's the MEP for Yorkshire and Lincolnshire. Corbett, however, says he is the MEP for YOrkshire and the Humber. I wonder which one is going for the EU regional title, and which one is going along traditional English counties?

It's a small story, but clearly Godfrey has a certain niche that he can tap now, due to that incident. I wonder how much more publicity he can get from it? Can we have a policy announcement on the issue? Good luck to him anyway.

Now we just need to persuade each of the other MEPs to say something shocking....
