I am not sure it is as bad as that. I think that the party has just become stuck in a rut. The people at the top are generally very welcoming of new ideas and so on, they are just desperate to avoid another Kilroy or Hockney affair. And understandably so, to some extent.

I anticipate that the coming NEC elections and the leadership election when that eventually arrives will breathe some new life and momentum INTO phpbb_the party. We have negative momentum for the time being, and that has to change.

Part of the problem I see Anthony, is that the same terminology is being used now as was used by Kilroy and co. If you use the same terminology, then the same ideas are assumed, and the same EMOTIONS are brought to the surface. Therefore, mention of Pressure Group vs Party with full set of policies, will bring up the emotions of the Kilroy saga.

The Lechlade Group is different in that there is no plan of 'accept or we will leave and start a new Party' so the terminology can be changed to incorporate this idea.

Here's my bash.

As things stand, do we want to ask the electorate for a protest vote against the EU, or do we want to ask for a positive vote for a Party that can run the Government smoothly and pull the UK out of the EU?

The chances of huge success in the GE is small if we are asking for a protest vote, because the electorate want the Country run well. In EU elections, a protest vote makes sense to the electorate because it is consistent with our message that MEPs do not run things. There is no fear of the Country going downhill with a massive protest vote at EU elections. There is at GEs.

To be fair to RKS he never said that in the begging he wanted pretty much what we want the difference is we don't want positions in the party and we don't want a leadership election.
We have always said that we will support Roger and the NEC until the terms of office are over.

Well that is a stronger emotional tie then. If he started out saying the same as you, then left, then.............

It's a subconscious thing. Asssociation, like Pavlov's dogs and the bell.

Hear! Hear! For anything to be fixed it has to be out in the open - there's a big difference between discussing things publicly and openly bringing a party INTO phpbb_disrepute. Anyway, how can we discuss anything on a forum whilst avoiding all 'potentially suspect' issues?

As for the 42 - there are many people I'm sure like myself who would have been one of that number if able to get to Lechlade so presumably a lot of 'supporters' are in trouble/offended as well.
