Dr Peter Martin-Kaye from Plymouth branch advises us of the following meeting in Bath next Thursday evening which should be well worth attending - possibly en-route to the conference? Can Peter advise the location details/address of the Bath Lit & Science meeting? John Kelly Janz Potocnic, EU Commissioner from Slovenia or somewhere is giving a talk on the EU Constitution and what the EU should do about support for Science and Technology. This is at the Bath Lit & Sci on Oct 6 at 7.00 for 7.30. Admission £3.00. I rate this as an important event because the debate is about highly significant matters and likely to be attended by a number of thoroughly prejudiced opinion-formers like ourselves, pro-constitution ****-mongers, numbskulled academics and so on. Moreover the speaker is to introduced by that well-known creep Graham Watson who must be given a large bums rush on all and any other occasions. The manner in which the EU may support Science and Technology must be defined in the existing treaties; and be liable for address in the EU Constitution but it's not up to Potocnik to prejudge what that is to say, if anything. As to that Constitution before we address that, if at all, we need to understand what our own says, don't we? I plan to go. All in SW Peter Martin-Kaye advises the location details for the above as follows: The Bath Lt & Sci Inst. 14 -16 Queens Sq., Bath. Up the road a bit from the theatre. John Kelly |
