Default Youthkip Age Range

Paid up UKIP members aged 16-26 are automatically entitled to join and be involved with Youthkip.

Associate membership is provided as a measure to allow those interested in being involved in Youthkip but are too young or old - IE: 15 year old cannot join the party, however they may be able to have associate membership of Youthkip. Likewise persons who are still relatively regarded as young may join as an associate member even if they are only just too old to qualify for normal youthkip membership.

However this associate membership does not carry voting rights, nor should it extend to persons more than a few years outside the age range.

This I feel is a fair measure. Any comments appreciated.

hmmm....why would someone want to be a member of the youth movement if they are not in the age range? To pick up kids? Sounds like it will attract a lot of old pervs

Is there going to be some kind of elected structure?

No, and yes. The reason someone might want to be involved is if they are 27 and just missed the age range, yet want to contribute to the youth movement.

We set the age range rather arbritrarily and I feel we might exclude people, who if they were in the Tories for example would be considered youth which IMO isn't fair. It is a provision of the constitution I have created, but may be removed at the inaugral meet.

As for the elected structure - yes the plan is to have a Youthkip NEC which will collectively run the youth wing and administer it's internal structures and disciplines. Mine is only a temporary chairmanship, as is Jans.

And it would be rather stupid to kick you out before you've come in.

I think if the absolute cut-off is 30 then

I think the upper age limit should be 30.

I am only 24 at the moment but I feel as if I could contribute more than a few years to the Youth movement.

Even at 29 I shall be in the youngest 5% of Ukippers.

I am not too happy about having members without voting rights, phrapse associate members should get voting rights.

Well, they're not members if they are associate members!

We'll discuss it at the inaugaural meeting, when we have it.
