Despite the results of the poll, I think trying to turn UKIP INTO phpbb_a full political party could be its death.
What unites UKIP voters (not just members) is the single issue of the EU not an ideology. As soon as new policies are brought in UKIP will divide. UKIP was very succesful as a single issue group and it has been losing support and votes since it tries to "broaden its horizon" by adding more policies. Unless you seriously think UKIP has a good chance of forming a government, or even getting a single MP, then there is little purpose in having a full manifesto. Instead UKIP should concentrate on the European elections where it does have good chances of success. Standing so many candidates in the general election costs a lot of many for what it was worth. People vote for a full list of policies in the general elction but mostly on one thing in the EU elections. Instead those who insist on having a full political party could create a different party for the general election. This could be Veritas with a new name. Then others can create other parties to express their views. However all these parties would be united on one point: withdrawal from the EU, and should let UKIP alone stand for the European Elections as it would be in their own parties best interest to have a strong anti-EU force. Just an idea. |

I was reading a survey of polls carried out since the May election... if there was an election tomorrow then UKIP would receive 2% of the vote.
We need something drastic to change that. Best you come along to Lechlade BP... see what the future holds.
