When I have kids, I fully intend to mount some remote speakers in their bedroom. If they misbehave, the David Hasselhoff CD gets played INTO phpbb_their room for a few hours.

If you were suspended and my kid, the last thing you would be doing is playing with your mates.
Matt, you are a responsible parent, but a lot of parents don't give a toss. I know a teachers who had to be smuggled out of school in the back of a car because the parents of some little toe rag were after her for chastising their little darling.

I used to tell my son's teacher that if he misbehaved and she felt the need to smack him, go ahead, and when he comes home he'll have another one. He was occasionally naughty as a kid, sometimes he was smacked (not beaten), I once banned him from watching his beloved Arsenal from playing in the cup final, can't remember what he did to deserve that. He got drunk occasionally, but he has grown up to be a responsible parent, with a good job and has never been in trouble, never done drugs.

The kids of today know their rights, but don't have any responsibility and if we are going to change their behaviour, we have to get tough with them.

This is a copy of a letter written by a friend to the local paper, I don't think it was printed, but you get the idea.

Ref: School racist incidents soar.

Dear Editor

Yes incidents of racism are naturally to be abhorred, (headline 23rd
June) yet it is instructive that both local and national governments
spend large amounts of taxpayers money on counting the number of
children's taunts in playgrounds and other child related racist incidents.

Of course victims feel hurt but life is full of hard knocks
and if the government is trying to control human nature from childhood,
then we really are living in an Orwellian nightmare. The fact is on
occasion most children are and always have been cruel to one another.
But the government and numerous do-gooders who want to "ban racist
behaviour" have bound and gagged those of us who believe the
reintroduction of corporal [and in some cases capital] punishment would
put an end to most if not all of Britain's social problems; from
bullying in schools to drunken violence and the brutal behaviour seen on
our town and city streets every weekend.

It is time politicians grew up and allowed schools to physically discipline bullies. The present course will lead to legislating a thought police and simply increase resentment against minorities.

The government must cease enforcing its vicious fake morality as it demonises drivers, persecutes smokers, and generally sticks its snout in everyone's business wasting both time and money on enforcing political correctness. At the same time it refuses to pay for sufficient national defence, closing air bases, it tolerates a grotesque deficiency of Police on the beat and, whilst bleating on about Kyoto, remains hypocritically unwilling to tax airline fuel because it fears the loss of votes.

(Blair quoted twice in Channel 4 Despatches: Why Politicians can't tell the truth). It is now threatening to tax rail commuters for travelling at peak times as its transport policy is in ruins. This government's kleptocratic taxation policies and religious zeal for controlling everyone is showing signs of a mental illness so entrenched in political and moral double-think that the end result is likely to be a society in which it is unfit for reasonable men and women to live.

Yours

Kid gets expelled.

Next stop.

Boot camp.

There is plenty that they can do that doesn't require violence. All depends on whether the kid wants a tough life or an easier life. Hopefuly we can get parents back to being responsible again, but if they fail to do their bit, then boot camp will be there to take care of their badly brought up spawn.

Unlike badlads army, they won't have the option of quiting either!

Caorporal punishment should be available to schools. the police and the prison service.
Members of the public should be able to discipline youths through force too.

Corporal punishment worked when I was at school in the forties and fifties. I never saw a child hit who didn't deserve it. It was only when the liberal, left wing, arty ,farty long haired bearded "call me John" teachers rose to power that learning and discipline went out the same window.
Until REAL discipline returns to the home and classroom, we will continue to have half illiterate yobs roaming the streets.

Teachers are very left wing. There’s no way they’d ever hit a child.

This survey proves something needs to be done or there won't be enough teachers to teach.

Sorry - Slightly off-topic, but still on the corporal punishment theme. My Dad, who I have to say is a very placid, convivial man has but one sentence to say on this matter:

"Bring back the birch. Supposed hard men never came back for more"

Sounds good to me.

My son qualified as a teacher of sport last year after 4 years of hard work. He lasted six months , leaving the profession all together. His view is that in schools today the teacher has to cope with 50% of his time being "crowd control", and only 50% teaching. He has now become a sports coach, because, "they come to you wanting eagerly to learn more".
He had to teach 36 kids in Southampton one day, the lesson, tennis, all on one court. 28 only wanted to mess around, 8 wanted to learn. 28 were lined up against the wall and warned, "it's pretty obvious you are not interested, for every minute of my time you waste by messing around from now on I will keep you back for the same time after school tonight. He succesfully lead the 8 kids in a lesson. The result,28 kids spent 40 minutes quietly watching others being taught followed by, Head teacher threatened to suspend him for excluding 28 kids from the lesson.
