the tories tried that one this year didnt do them much good

people dont buy the cutting taxes and improving servies at the same time anymore no matter how its dressed up

also remember UKIP would have to then change thier whole policy as they have already decided how that extra money will be spent and its not hospitals, or police

On the contrary, out of all the parties, those who would pull out of the EU have the biggest weapon. We give the EU a HUGE amount of money, as we all know. That is a great tool in promoting your party, infact probably the biggest simple verbal weapon you have. Everyone in the country knows the EU costs us lots of money. If you say "pull out" then you have a lot of money to spend in peoples minds. What you spend it on is up to you.

regards,
gareth.

Edit; i can tell you personally, that the simple statement you guys made of giving the money from the withdrawl of the EU, straight to the pensioners, directly moved me to vote for you. (there are only the big three parties here though)

So... Does it always rain up there in Scotland or what?

Did you not notice the word "perhaps" in my previous post?

What do you suggest?

Oh... I forget. You're an activist for the pro-EU Lib Dems, so you won't be suggesting anything. In fact, it's your job to put a damper on ideas to get us out of the EU.

And this is the other thing you guys should do. have a real rolling web-page, where all the stuff from all your leaflets everywhere, all your promotional packs etc, is stored. and not stored like a warehouse, but stored like a shop so people can reach out and touch what they want.

And link in parts of the manifesto from that. Not so they get presented with huge areas of text, but small abridged versions that are nice to read, and that they would only see the part that they choose to see. Make yourselves easier to digest, with the full manifesto available in the background for those who really get hooked.

Ensure all the news YOU want the media to show is on there. Make it very easy for the public to access the news they want to see about the EU. Have this updated on the home page daily, so you get repeat visitors. you want the public to depend on YOU to tell them about the EU. Make that your inbeetween election job. What they want is to have thier fears confirmed, and so they feel justified in backing out of there in thier minds and with thier vote. Remember, the liberal media is all about pushing them towards the EU so they will be looking for a media to show them why they should resist; provide that.

Above all, all of your promotional material should have this (very simple) URL on it, make it colourfull and attractive. Ensure the news pages on the web site have printer freindly options. And dont let Scotgirl dampen your spirits. Remember, thats what she is here for

regards,
Gareth.

if any ideas dont have any downsides what would i possibly have to say against them

basically whatever you come up with has to stand up to being questioned not by me but by the media and remember im just an activisit to any questions I come up with are likely to be nothing comparied to what a TV interview would ask if it became policy

Do you guys have any dedicated web-designers all year round? that is the perfect job for your activists and volunteers. All of you people who are regular posters on this forum will be able to contribute news stories that you come accross, so it isnt just us people who are interested already that would read it, but it would be recorded and easily accessible in the future for the electorate to read, at thier leisure.

For example;

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.../01/weu101.xml

Is exatly, EXACTLY, the sort of thing the public should be able to easily read at your site. Most of the public has an EU itch; let them scratch it.

Regards,
Gareth.

Ok i just checked over your news archives. you have a lot of news about UKIP itself, but at a quick glance it seems hard to get much meat on the EU (in terms of why its bad in other peoples words. Newspapers are great for this.)

You should subdivide the achives up. News storys such as the link above should be available 2 clicks from the homepage, and clearly signposted.

Nobody mentioned policy. It's just a leaflet.

If you're looking for policies with downsides, might I suggest that you go hang out on a Lib Dem forum for a while?

AsI have said before, most people I talk to & people I know, are not interested in politics. Some drag themselves out on Polling Day,some don't even bother, & that's it untill the next time. You cannot "educate " those who do not wish to be "educated".
I disagree, I just think that people dont really understand UKIP's policies, well not the people I have spoken to, but after I have explained to them what UKIP's policies are they always say stuff like "oh i didnt know that", therfore they have been educated on the policies. I want using Educated in a cheeky way.

Trying to get this post back on tract. Ukip spent a great deal of money getting our message out do people think they should not spend a little more finding out if the message was received. It is no good us giving our opinions as we are to close to the problem. Do any of us really know what Joe public think?
