I'm pretty much sold on STV too now.

Our best result - albeit in an election re. Europe, the thing we most despise - came as a result of PR. Are we nuts?! Of course we should go for PR. If we are of a mind set that the only PR outcome will be a coalition that cannot be changed, then I think we might as well lower our placards now. We do have to think we can do much better or we are nothing. Results from 5.5.5. show that FPTP is not to our advantage at present. We have a better chance via PR, - last July showed us that. Where's the problem. If we got 4 INTO phpbb_Westminster via PR (as the letter in the Mail today shows we would have this month) I for one would be ****-a-hoop. We all were last year when Nigel et al were snapped on the lawn outside the H of P in victory mode. On an even more positive note, if we got together workable, non-extremist policies (other than on Europe, and everyone knows where we stand on that) we would make significant in-roads. By having non-extremist policies doesn't mean they wouldn't or couldn't achieve radical results. We need verbal sleight of hand ('spin' if you will). Take the Met's 'waiting list for white males'; no one is at all upset but it's effectively a 'boycott' of white males. Blair (Ian) has achieved his objective of banning white men from employment in their own Country without let or hindrance because the language he has used is not - on the face of it - inflammatory. It could be of course that we are part of a totally supine electorate - or one that is ripe, via PR, for the taking.

What is UKIP's official policy on PR? I thought they were against PR.

The Lib Dems would DECLINE electorally if we had PR as a large amount of their support is due to them not being Tory or Labour and thus they get the anti-Political Establishment/anti-Politics protest vote and a certain amount of support from people who are genuine enthusiasts for electoral and constitutional reform.

Most liberal/centrist parties in the Western world only get about 10% support nationally at best (for instance, the German Liberals the F.D.P have never had more than about 12% support) as the vast majority of the electorates tend to veer either to the 'Left' or the 'Right' in their politics.
