Just somebody wrote a book some time back doesn't mean to say that it is the word of God, only what someone is claiming is the word of God. And before I invoke the wroth of the religious fraternity, I do believe in God, but Im not so sure about religion. |

Politics and religion should not be mixed. Politics can sometimes be an objective science, religion is always a question of faith.
You've either got faith or you haven't. The whole point of faith is that it does not require proof, otherwise it would not be faith, it would be science. You cannot negotiate faith like political ideology. Ignoring the whole religion thing, is it right that gay marriage should be equated with normal marriage? Is normal marriage even relevant today? Why not give every long term cohabiting couple (or triple, or whatever) the right to inherit each other's property? That would be true equality. Why accord special treatment for any people just because they call themselves married? |

There is no reason why a gay couple should not have the same rights as a hetrosexual couple. |

It is therefore reasonable to suppose that the Christian teachings of two millennia, still strongly upheld by the Roman Catholic Church today, are doctrinally correct. Speaking for myself I am not concerned what homosexuals do, so long as it is done in private. The nonsense of a ‘gay wedding’, which makes a mockery of a sacred rite, does not come within this category. |

And Jesus' teaching of course. But each to their own, we are all free to choose, every step of the way, without exception. Thanks for your response.
