18 months ago the Government announced (still have the clipping) that anyone convicted of snatching a mobile phone in the street and making off would get 4 years. Period. Why didn't it happen? -because the Gov. can say what it likes but unless the arrogant conspiracy (judiciary) take to the idea (hah!) then nothing will happen (and it hasn't). Prisons are too full with proper criminals for this to have ever got off the ground. Take the 169mph speeding policeman last week - the case was proved but because m'lud had a bad wig day he unilaterally decides that the guy walks. A giant step for Blairs 'respect'.
