That was Major (1993 Railways Act), in a stupidly pointless attempt to comply with an EU directive (91/440 for the serious anoracks). And neither of them deliberately set out to bankrupt the railway, unlike Byers. Oh, and Scargill screwed the mining industry, not her. You may have a point about the hospital cleaning though. Frankly she was the least bad prime minister I have ever known, from a libertarian point of view. |
