Where is the response button, because in fact, according to Dr. Oliver Letwin, Kilroy Silk was underestimating the amount we pay daily to Brussels. Dr. Letwin, in his latest newsletter states that we pay £50ml p.day = £13,121 million p.a.

The bit on immigration is hillarious. People will read that one section and realise what a joke that sit is straight away.

A better argument would be that for the EU to block their citizens from trading with us would be cutting off their nose to spite their face, and since we could then trade freely with the rest of the world this would hurt them more than it would hurt us. |

Figures released last month show that in the first 8 months, ie between May and December 2004, actual immigration was 133,000 from the AC10, meaning the government was only just over 1000% out. Personally, I'm not someone who really cares one way or the other about immigration, but I do care that the government was happy to use such tranparently ludicrous figures, and the Tories were happy to play along with them. If they were happy to accept 130,000+ immigrants, they should have told people so at the time. Rgds Mark |
