Where is the response button, because in fact, according to Dr. Oliver Letwin, Kilroy Silk was underestimating the amount we pay daily to Brussels. Dr. Letwin, in his latest newsletter states that we pay £50ml p.day = £13,121 million p.a.

Read about the constitution – does it say this? Or is it little more than putting what we already do INTO phpbb_writing?

Yeah, yeah of course we believe everything the Brussels Broadcasting Corporation puts out.

“They [EU Countries] sell us far more than we sell them. They need us far more than we need them.”
- Nigel Farage, UKIP

Completely untrue: the UK Trade deficit with the EU is actually only 2.0 billion 12. This means we export £2.0bn more that we import from Europe. Bearing in mind that we export over £100bn to the EU every year a two billion pound difference is frankly irrelevant; we really do need their trade just as much as they need ours.
This is a lie, we are billions in deficit.

Deficit during the period: - 1973 to 1994 was £94,123billion.

Who in their right mind believes anything Blair, Howard and Kennedy say anymore.

The total staff of the European commission consists of about 17,000 officials, almost 2000 translators, and 9,000 secretarial and support staff. It is responsible for half a billion people across Europe.
Responsible? means what? Unlike the county council used as a comparator, they are not dealing with their electorate daily - running services such as waste disposal and so on.

Not comparing apples with apples I'm afraid!

no mention of the 4,000+ quangos or the army of beaurocrats seconded from home parliaments who being paid by them are not included in the EUs figures

The bit on immigration is hillarious. People will read that one section and realise what a joke that sit is straight away.

Quote:
A month on from the expansion of the European union, have we been swamped by Eastern European immigrants? The UKIP cannot give any figures for any such migration because none have been compiled yet. So talk to "uncontrollable migration" from "a potential 73 million people" is simple scare-mongering, and nothing more.
Please God let the residents of Woking, Peterborough, Folkstone, London, or anywhere else for that matter read this. The amount to of eastern Europeans you run INTO phpbb_now proves UKIP were bang on the money.

Oh but the stats haven't been compiled and massaged yet by the bean couinters, thats alright then.

Farage is exaggerating here, and in any case probably has the argument backwards (so has the erroneous rejoinder). If you import more than you export you are more reliant upon the other party than they are upon you. Exports aren't a good thing in themselves - they're the price you have to pay to get the imports you want.

A better argument would be that for the EU to block their citizens from trading with us would be cutting off their nose to spite their face, and since we could then trade freely with the rest of the world this would hurt them more than it would hurt us.

The government estimated immigration from the AC10 nations as between 5,000 and 13,000 in the first year after enlargement.

Figures released last month show that in the first 8 months, ie between May and December 2004, actual immigration was 133,000 from the AC10, meaning the government was only just over 1000% out.

Personally, I'm not someone who really cares one way or the other about immigration, but I do care that the government was happy to use such tranparently ludicrous figures, and the Tories were happy to play along with them. If they were happy to accept 130,000+ immigrants, they should have told people so at the time.

Rgds

It is misleading to say that we get nothing back from our 15m a day. Our membership of the EU entitles us to a much louder voice at the table of global organisations such as the World Trade Organisation, Intermational Monetary Fund, or the UN. Of course, it is difficult to quantify the monetary value of such status, but this does not detract from its advantages.
I particularly liked that bit. I always thought that we had been a permanent member of the UN Security Council since way before the EU was invented, let alone when we were conned INTO phpbb_joining it. Still, what's that saying, oh yes - "never let the facts get in the way of a good story".
