Good points, Independence Now!
But there is no evidence of mass immigration from the Eastern European countries within the EU. The new economic opportunities are being created in their homelands and some industry is moving from here to these reviving economies. Cheaper labour, of course, has a lot to do with it. But you are right to say we would prefer people from Europe to fill our gaps in the employment sector. We would prefer people with essential skills. Our own farmers have long relied on labour from that part of the world. Without these people we would have no agriculture to speak of. Let us be realistic. |
