he still has his seat but not as a "respect" member of parliamnet just as an independent.

Right, so I guess that is what would happen to us then.

Still means you can ask awkward questions in line with UKIP values, but the BBC would still ignore UKIP.

As far as I am aware, you can "cross the floor" to a party, even if it does not currently have any MPs (although, of course, technically he wouldn't be crossing the floor, as all opposition MPs sit on the same side of the House)
