Default Roger Knapman on BBC "News"

I was so shocked I nearly fell off my perch. The BBC actually asked Roger Knapman for his views on the British EU rebate. I cannot remember the last time that any UKIP member, let alone the leader was asked to comment on anything to do with the EU on BBC TV main news. Perhaps we are getting through at last!

Yup, I saw that too. Only a short piece, but a lot better than nothing. Thank you BBC.

Whatever next. The only anti-EU party in town gets asked it's opinion on T.V!!!!!

I may watch one episode of Eastenders in return, to help the Beeb get it's viewers back. More UKIP = more Eastenders, deal?

Not true, I'm afraid about being the "only anti-EU party in town". The BNP is also committed to withdrawing Britain from the EU as are some other parties and we were the original anti-EU party having had this policy as one of our primary aims since we were founded in 1982.

You're right.

I'll rephrase.

Only anti-EU party who doesn't think skin colour should be an issue or is lead by an ex-chatshow-host.

Heard the Today item this morning but haven't seen the TV news.

RK was good on the Today programme in terms of fielding the questions he was asked competently (much better than I could do I'm sure), but why didn't he at least mention that the true net cost to the UK of membership of the EU is at least 30 billion annually - i.e. point out that the issue of the so-called rebate is but a small part of the problem (?).

It's very difficult to get all the points you want to out, without sounding like a prepared script. The fact he sounded good is enough for me!

NOW I WANT MORE!

I'm sorry to say I find the RK quote on beeb news very weak.

Quote:
UK Independence Party leader Roger Knapman said the rebate was "set in stone" and there was no reason to negotiate about it.

"It is extraordinary to do it at this time, just as we are becoming the biggest contributor to the EU. If we lose our rebate as well, the British taxpayer is going to be bled at such a rate that I think everyone will go off the European project."
Is this selective reporting? I hope so! The way it is phrased you could be mistaken for thinking a pro-europe supporter saying it.

As far as I'm aware the RK item has been on News 24 during the afternoon, which is something, but it wasn't included in the 6 O Clock News report on the same issue.

The BBC will probably use today's exception to demonstrate just how 'fair and balanced' they are over 'Łurope' - while the real impact of News 24 must be tiny compared to the 'proper' TV news.
