Default GMB commits to campaign against BNP (and UKIP) at election

http://www.politics.co.uk/press-rele...n-$7906702.htm
Quote:
We must get out and tell the British people the truth about the BNP. We have to remind people that not to vote is a waste, but to vote for hatred is far, far worse. The behaviour of Tories and others on the right - UKIP, Veritas, the Liberals in some places - who are acting as outriders for the BNP will not help to close the door on fascism in this country. They are relying on it for votes. It is for activists from the Left, in the Labour Party, in trade unions and in other parties with socialist values, who live in those communities, to force that door closed.
Oh so anyone who thinks that mass immigration, losing control of our borders and destruction of the British peoples way of life is a fascist now.

What an ar*ehole!

So UKIP, Veritas and the Liberals are assisting the BNP? Cobblers. The BNP are an irrelevance in serious politics. The only thing assisting them is all of the attention they get from the media making stupid claims like this.

This is probably a daft question, but what's this GMB? I can never remember these alphabet soups. From the linked article it appears to be some sort of trade union, but for the life of me I can't pin down what it stands for.

I have no idea what GMB stands for.

http://www.socialistunitynetwork.co.uk/Myths/gmb.htm

Give some idea of what he is all about though.

Quote:
"For many in the union, Kevin's election came as a big surprise as he had no real support from any part of the union structure. Anyone that knew him, knew he was just another ambitious bureaucrat who had boasted for almost 20 years that he would be General Secretary one day. Anyone who knew him was also amazed during the election campaign that some sections of the left accepted his claims to be a socialist at face value."
Power hungry career merchant. He'll go far with Labour!

I think it stands for the General and Municipal Boilermakers Union or Old Labour in other words.

Boilermakers? Weird. But in that case shouldn't it be the GMBU, not GMB?

The combined memberships and electorates of the combined mentioned parties must dwarf the BNP and represent, electorally over 50% of the nation. To suggest that we are all the outriders of fascism shows what a deluded and shrinking world these people live in.

Remember UKIP membership is growing and union membership is in terminal decline. Fewer and fewer people believe this drivel

I have just found out that a%of all Union dues is donated to the Labour Party weekly/monthly. This is worth pointing out to all the unhappy punters who only pay up because they have to. I understand that they can request NOT to make/pay the donation but aren't aware of the fact.
