Halleluiah! About time too!

The idea of Godfrey Bloom as Women's Rights spokesperson still cracks me up. On the other hand he does occasionally make good points about the effects of employment laws on women, and the desire of the media to have a good laugh at somebody they see as a colourful joke figure means that he will actually be listenned to and quoted. It might work out well.

Dr John Whittaker as Economic & Monetary Affairs spokesman makes sense given that he is an economist specialising in monetary unions. He's probably better qualified for this post than most of his opposite numbers in the 'big' parties.

Jeffrey Titford as Farming spokesman makes sense as I think I'm right in saying he's had a regular column for several years in a farmers' magazine and as an MEP he once saved the abbatoir industry from an even worse pounding at the hands of the EU than the one it actually got.

Derek Clarke as Education spokesman makes good sense too. According to his website he is a:
Quote:
Former Schoolmaster and member of the Committee which combined the CSE/GCE INTO phpbb_the present GCSE system
Don't know about the others, but if the above are anything to go by then this is a pretty sensible set of appointments.

Knapman should have done this months ago. I'm very glad he's doing it now, though!

I am not sure that we should just rely on our MEPs to provide a source for spokesmen and women. It is rather limiting and means that they have to take on multiple roles. Perhaps use them for the main positions, but bring in others. David Lamb for instance stands out as an obvious choice for Pensions.

At the moment Roger Knapman is filling the three largest roles by himself. If UKIP were elected, he would be Prime Minister, Foreign Secretary and Home Secretary.

However, presumably if we were elected, he would appoint different people.... but that then raises the point of why haven't those other people been appointed now to give them time to get to grips with their allotted subjects?

Overall though, I am delighted that the party has decided to release this list.

David Lamb is spokesman on pensions already in my mind. He basicaly wrote the parties policy. They should add his name as pensions spokesman ASAP.

I've said it before, I'll say it again.

Never, ever, ever, set someone up in a job whose sole purpose is to do itself out of business!

'G Booth Regional Development spokesman' is an oxymoron if ever I heard one.

Give'un International Development 'cuz 'e can talk proper to they furriners dan Cornwall way, and they Frogs in Brussels what don't need a translator for 'is speechifyin'...
