I must say I prefer 'We Want our Country Back' to 'UKIP Protecting Your Freedom' put forward by Anthony. I have asked various members and they all think the first one is more hard hitting as it can also refer to immigration and the destruction of our traditions and national identity. The general opinion was that the second one was too weak sounding. People should stick with 'We Want our Country Back' as this is the slogan on all our leaflets and posters. If every candidate made personal changes to our slogans and leaflets it could confuse people as to which slogan or policy is the one picked by the leadership and policy team.

We could say the following UIKIP Protecting your freedom Freedom from Immigration Freedom from Europe Freedom from bureaucracy Freedom from Regulation Freedom To choose What does we want our country back conjure up in your mind. We want to be free from Europe; maybe, but it is more like we are saying lets get back to the good old days. It also lends itself to we have been overtaken by minorities and we want our country back from them, this has a slight racist tint to it. I just prefer it because you can build on it. |

'UKIP Protecting Your Freedom' is not only in line with the 5 Essential Freedoms, but it does, as B A Ware hints at, leave less room for mis-interpretation. It also has a more friendly feel to it than 'We Want Our Country Back' - that sounds like the BNP.
