Kinnock 1975

http://www.publications.parliament.u.../Debate-2.html

Quote:
ur shared experience in that campaign was in marked contrast to the role played by the right hon. Member for Islwyn (Mr. Kinnock) who, throughout that campaign, spoke vociferously and vigorously against Britain's membership of the European Community. According to Tribune on 5 May 1975, he even said :

"The EEC and its political and economic dimensions is the robber of the real sovereignty of the people."

Talk about a poacher turned gamekeeper. When I listen to him now, gung-ho for Delorsism, I can only reflect that Saul on the road to Damascus was nothing compared to Neil on the autoroute to Brussels. The Gracious Speech rightly emphasises Britain's constructive role in the two intergovernmental conferences on political union and on economic and monetary union. As we approach the climax of the negotiations, it is inevitable that there will be deep feelings and some divisions on both sides of the House.

http://www.parliament.the-stationery.../Debate-8.html

Quote:
In 1983--he had not changed his mind during those eight years--he said :

"We want out of the Common Market."

In 1988, he had changed his mind. In The Independent on 4 February, he was quoted as saying these amazing words :

"I have never seen hostility towards the European Community in the Labour party".
Some things never change. Liars, the lot of them. Contempt is not enough to describe what I feel for them!

Hey Biscuitman,

What does your leaflett say?

Any chance of you posting the content or the file?

Do you mind others using it?

Because of I've used Wordart and text boxes If I post it here it just loses some of the impact, send me a PM with your e-mail address and I'll send you a copy.

Bear in mind its aimed at students.

The young are usually fodder for socialist parties... if you're not a communist before age 21 you never will be.. but they 'ain't not got a party to support at the moment.

They dont have the responsibilities that come with age so can afford to be radical, to kick up against authority, the establishment, parents and it is this psuedo 'idealism' that I am appealing to.

As we are THE only party that is against being in the EU it is us that offers a home for radicals.

What we are proposing to do with the "Withdrawal Dividend" is invest in people and infrastructure ... thats socialist policies at work isnt it?

throw in scrapping "Tesco Education" - pile it high sell it cheap, more vocational training, more meaningful education and scrapping student loans and writing off student debts... (my favourite line is that I WILL vote in favour of students paying for their education. BUT only the day after all them freeloaders in parliament write out checks to the Min of Education, to pay for the free education they had).

and I reckon you got 'em

New leaflet approved by David Lott for national use.

Its to be aimed at students and I'm to liase with Nigel's PA Katy who was a SU president.. but ideas needed quick on how we can deliver it nationaly to the target audience.

I've got 5,000 students on my patch, crucial vote for me.
