I think this one has passed straight over my head... if we have a manifesto, what are we waiting for? Why wait until a general election is called? Do we need some sort of permission from our Tone before we can publish it?

I would think that before we lose many more people to leakage(!), it would be advantageous to get it in print
a) we may be the first in print
b) counteract Vanitas effect- I noticed that RKS was simply repeating what UKIP has been saying for years
c) we would no longer appear to be a one-issue party, and the sooner we get that put out with the cat, the better, to my mind.
d) at least we would THEN be able to say,'yes we got a manifesto' at PPC/ public meetings to all the nay-sayers.

What are we afeared of? That the other Parties will pick holes in it? They'll do that anyway to mitigate the holes in theirs.

This would be the very time to announce our manifesto while RKS has bought us to the publics attention. When he says we have no polices we should hold a press conference launching the manifesto, this would counteract any argument RKS has about us not having polices.

What happens if the election is then left until 2006? This would be a case of serious premature electioneering. Veritas are clearly not even close to being a properly formed party yet, they have a lot of work to do and if they bring out an undemocratic RKS wish list for their manifesto, then all of teh accusations thrown at UKIP leadership will pale INTO phpbb_insignificance.

The day the election date is announced, I would like to see us launch our manifesto.

I think that if we wait, and announce our Manifesto on the day the Government names the Election date we will lose out, because of all the stuff that will be available to the media on that day.Launch our Manifesto asap and give us some exposure,or get exposure now by some other means. In short,we are out of the public eye, even "you know who" wont mension us after this week.
