Clearly, there are many on this forum who could give Nostradamus a run for his money in the prediction stakes but I have not heard anyone link the time left to get out of the EU with the rate of progress being made by UKIP.
The UK can only leave the EU by democratic means if the means exist ie Parliament has the power to repeal laws that have ceded power to the EU. If the ability to repeal laws no longer exists we can no more gain independence than a Republic in the old USSR could. No one could accuse UKIP leaders of exhibiting a sense of urgency. Are they justified in having such a slothful approach? |

Looking INTO phpbb_my crystal ball. I can see we have this election and two more to do it the peaceful way. I believe the Brits will refuse the Euro, Constitution or any other grand scheme by referendum. For this reason the main parties will abandon giving us them after a couple of failures.
However, the sooner we get out, the easier it will be for everyone and the less money we will squander on this corruption call the EU. Once Britain withdraws though, the whole thing could collapse. The French are already taking to the streets over their way of life being changed for the worse. UKIP need to start accelerating now for sure. I expect a much bigger effort from all over the next few months. Including myself!

Your'e forgetting the civil contingencies bill Matt, this is only my opinion but, if in a referendum a no vote is cast, I think we may well see a reversal of under this pernicious piece of legislation, so fundemental a change to our way of life it was sneaked in whilst the furore of the Hunting Ban was going on.

There would be blood on the streets if they reversed a no vote. The British people will only take so much. I can't believe they would pull that trick.
