As I am going to the Bewdley meeting tomorrow and there is nothing on the main website advertising it. I thought it would be a good idea if this web site had a posting where people could say what meeting they are going to. This would give us all the opportunity to meet each other if we wanted to. This is not restricted to Ukip people I would like to meet all sorts of like-minded people and have genuine debate. I was late in finding (9th of Jan) this forum but I can honestly say I enjoy every moment on it. It is an education and interesting speaking to people that are truly interested in politics. I don’t mean to disrespect people in general but most people worry about Coronation Street and Eastenders than they do about their country

Well, I attended the meeting, but I hadn't expected so many people to be there - so I had no way of knowing what you looked like B A Ware. I was the younger-than-average bloke in the pale blue jumper, in case you are interested.
There were one or two embarrassing moments tonight. Mike Nattrass introduced three people on the stage; Rusty Lee, Janet Hearnshaw (the local branch chairman) and Roger Knapman. The only one NOT to get a clap was Roger... ops: During his speech, Mike Nattrass was talking about Peter Mandelson and why he shouldn't be a commissioner: "I am not talking about his deviancy, if that is what it is". I know that we aren't in favour of political correctness, but referring to homosexuality as a deviancy went out of common useage a very long time ago. I think that it is just offensive now, and unnecessary. ops: |

A while back, a normally unreliable source (Martin Cole) reported Nattrass as making snide remarks about the 'pink mafia' controlling London UKIP. Unwilling as I generally am to believe anything Cole reports unless there are several sworn witness statements to back it up, I do wonder if we see a pattern emerging here. Possibly somebody should have a word with Comrade Nattrass and point out that most people are now a bit more grown-up about these things.

Anthony I was the one in the black leather coat, greying hair and bloody good looks, I did notice Two youngish people in the break standing with there back to the door, it must have been you as you could count the young people on one hand. I am not young 42 actually but I’ve got a mind of a 25 year old. I wasn’t impressed with the meeting was you.

I had heard most of it before, and I didn't feel at all inspired by it. I kept thinking that in another similar room across the country, Mr Kilroy-Silk was announcing to the nation that he was leaving the party and taking a hatchet to our electoral chances. Meanwhile our leaders were acting as if nothing much was happening.... either very cool or very blind :?
I was impressed by the turn out though - that was good to see, if nothing else. Janet had done a great job to organise it. |
