Again what this incident shows loud and clear, is the press are totally in the pocket of the political elite. Not a whimper out of any of the main news sources. If it had all gone off smoothly though, we would have seen loads of glorious images, with rousing euro-anthems blazing out.
We are being led like sheep INTO phpbb_a nanny state, time to stop taking orders and push back!

Some in the press have tried to do some stories (The Times story about the waste of £262,000 for the Constitution party etc.), but on the whole they have been very quiet. Do not forget Peter "Goebels-like" Mandelson is now in the commission and has undoubtedly been involved in the "news management" of this event w.r.t. the British media. I agree, we should try to hijack every news event we can starting today. I also think we should put out another poster campaign attacking the big three for riding the gravy train, since it appears the pre-election band wagon has now started to roll.
Well done to our MEP's who stood against it all. |

"It is the patriotic choice to go for the EU constitution," he said ... Wasn't this the same eejit who said "I think it is unpatriotic to go abroad for Christmas." The man's as daft as a Bush. Talking of which, I hear G.W. is waging a war on Tsunamis - when he has found Tsunami on the map, that is. "We cannot and must not allow these Tsunamians to continue this wave of terror."

The EP reported that the vote in favour of the above was "overwhelming" but this report indicates an underwhelming result for something of such huge significance.
News reaches me from Sweden that their constitution requires there to be 2 referenda with a general election between them, if any change to their constitution is proposed - now that's how to protect one's constitution !! It will be interesting to see how the jobsworths get around that one. Many Czech, Polish and UK MEPs vote against Constitution 13.01.2005 - 09:45 CET | By Lucia Kubosova EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS – As a new member state, Poland had the highest percentage of MEPs not supporting the European Constitution during a vote on Wednesday (12 January). Out of a total of 54 Polish MEPs, 38 either voted against (35.8%) or abstained (35.8%) from voting on a report endorsing the new Constitution. The Czech Republic had the highest percentage actually voting against (68.2%) with no abstentions. Most of them came from the Civic Democrats party (ODS). This main opposition party in the Czech Republic, which was founded by well known Eurosceptic and current President Vaclav Klaus. The third country with such high votes against was the UK with 58.9% against and 1.4% absentions. If citizens were to follow the pattern of these votes during a national referendum on the Constitution, it would cause a political crisis in the EU. While the UK and Poland are set to hold a referendum, it is still not certain whether the Czech Republic will. The opposition ODS is trying to push forward a bill to allow a referendum. However, during the vote yesterday MEPs from some countries, such as Slovenia and Lativa, voted entirely in favour. Similarly, most Spanish MEPs, whose country is to be the first to have a referendum on the Constitution on 20 February, voted in favour. Just three voted against. |
