Ukip Spent £2.3M on Euro Polls Campaig

The UK Independence Party’s stunning gains in Euro elections in June cost them £2,361,754 in campaign costs, an election watchdog revealed today.

Labour, which suffered its worst showing for almost a century, spent just over £1.7 million on promoting its candidates for the European Parliament.

The Electoral Commission’s figures also show that Michael Howard’s Tories were the biggest spenders at £3.1 million – an effort which secured 27 seats despite a nine-point vote slump.

And the Liberal Democrats’ campaign cost £1,188,691 as their share of the vote edged up.

Paul Sykes cerainly helped out in a big way, but I am stunned at the Labour Party figures. It's almost like they wrote the election off a dead and decided to save the money!

UKIP needed to put itself on the map, but I wish we had a bit of that money for the coming election!

The Labour figure is distorted as it doesnt include government spending on EU spin

Frankly, I have no other reaction to the labour figure than "its a lie", or at best an extremely seleced extract from the real spend.
