Also appearing (the supporting cast? The chorus?) are:- ED BALLS Labour Parliamentary Candidate OLIVER LETWIN MP Shadow Chancellor MATTHEW TAYLOR MP Liberal Democrat Party Chairman GERMAINE GREER Writer, Broadcaster and Academic Seriously, a tough panel. Much more get up and go about this lot than the 'Any Questions' panel, I think. |

I will look forward to this. That is one hell of a line up. RKS could make or break himself tonight!

I thought that he was fine. He had an edge to everything that he said, which I liked.
He was, however, a little aggressive with the lady talking about the "humiliating" photograph issue. She had clearly made a silly comment and I think that she knew it, but he pressed it too hard. It is fine to be aggressive to other politicians, but members of the public are very soft targets. I thought that Germaine Greer was also pretty good. Ed Balls had a terrible time and was outnumbered and outgunned. I think that he should have abandoned the party line and simply stated what he actually thought under those circumstances. As it was, he looked pretty silly at times. I did feel sorry for him though. |

Well, I tried to watch the program from two viewpoints. Firstly I tried to watch the program as a regular member of public, then as UKIP member.
I thought he got of to a torrid start. On the first issue of the right to defend your home, he was doing well until he made the mistake of blagging it. He was asked how many cases of people being taken to court for attacking a raider he knew of, and he said quite a few. Then asked to name one of them and he couldn't, it was kind of an awkward moment. Oliver Leftwin stepped in to help him out, thankfully, but I don't really like having other people bail our guys out. Next up was the IRA question above, I personally was a bit uneasy on how he answered this question. I agreed with him that it was silly that the IRA wouldn't show a picture. What a small petty thing to get hung up on, especially when the IRA could fake one just to keep things moving. My problem was his big defence of Ian Paisley, I didn't think he needed to take sides so vocally and it left me feeling a bit stunned. The lady tried to rubbish his opinion, and she did not deserve the mauling that RKS gave her. I think Dimbleby doesn't like RKS, and just like all the other times RKS has been on Question Time, he got told off for patronising and talking over people. RKS really needs to show more restraint sometimes, as it gives and air of being out of control. He was also very jumpy and fidgity, which something I always look out for, since George W was pulled apart for doing the same. Thankfully RKS got better as the program went on, and he settled down a bit. All subjects he got the most support from the audience, and I think on balance he actually came out as the person most in tune with the audience. His passion makes him a person that people either love or hate, again you can draw similarities with George W here. Right near the end he couldn't resist bringing up his spat with the Arabs again. Sometimes I think he should let that lie, but on this occasion I think he used it to good effect, and left the show on a positive note. So overall I thought a weak start, but finished strong, and I put that down to the fact that he settled down a bit.
