Default The Internet and Elections

This is an excellent article on the use of the web to get the message across during elections.

It also has some food for thought about UK voters' general aspirations which I think most of us would recognise as positive for UKIP

Yes, I liked that article. We also have to be warey of the harm that can be cause too though. We have already seen enough disinformation from all quarters about UKIP, including people who are supposed to be on our team.

We need to project the positive image of what UKIP is all about, and more importantly what it's members are all about.

With much of the mainstream media increasingly discredited (esp BBC) the web and internet must provide real opportunities for us.
MKPD is of course right to point out the problems that our critics can cause. And that is more than a good reason to try harder to achieve unity within the Party.
JP is also right that the overall opportunities outway the risks. Especially interesting was the following quote:
For example, Prof Coleman said, the new medium allowed the BNP's message to get INTO phpbb_people's homes, something he was not happy with. unquote
The fear of the break of the control of the establishment is evident.
If the BNP's message is wrong or incorrect, then there must be over-riding arguments to defeat them. (But that is not of course for UKIP unless we are attacked by BNP).
Is there some serious work to be done in UKIP? Posters were so effective in June but we must have an open mind on reaching our targets despite the mainstream media.

A carefully devised strategy for using the internet to reach potential voters would really pay dividends, in my view
