Default Should we invest in photography?

I can help noticing the really, really, really bad pictures on out press releases or websites; a good photographer and webdesigner isn't really that expensive and would certainly help our image!

Not to pick out poor Nigel but this is the first thing we see on his site!

Whats wrong with that photo? He looks happy and smart!

Image is important, I agree, but I wouldn't want us to sell our soul like New Labour and get all men to shave their beards off and pretend that we are something we are not.

I agree - we certainly dont want to be all spin and no substance, but first impressions are all important and we want to look like a serious party.

The image of Nigel although a nice base for a shoot; it's infront of westminster, he's suited up, sunny day it does look..... amateurish!

The resolution is low, Nigel is either looking INTO phpbb_the sun or has some Chinese in his blood.... his face is really screwed up and the some could say the light makes it look like he needs to brush his teeth!

And that was only one photo - look at Knapman from the manifesto, lighting all wrong, tie not straight, glasses crooked..... etc. etc. it's all basics which they need to do!

Do you do photography as a living, or a hobby. To my untrained eye, I wouldn't have noticed much of that. Perhaps you could offer your services to the site, if you have skills you could bring to the table?

I think UKIP wouldn't spend money on this sort of thing, as we are not the richest party in the world, taking massive wedges of cash from Unions, big business etc. Any people with skill in an area that could help, should offer them if possible.

I am good at posting leaflets! ops:

I try to help where I can though!

No i'm not a photographer but when not jugling my degree I'm a web programmer so do get to see a lot of professional photos.
If were any good at taking photos I would but as said not my field.... dont really know how to make a good photo just what goes INTO phpbb_a bad one.... if that makes sense

I'm sure that within the UKIP membership area there's someone who is a professional (or even keen amateur) who'd loan us a studio and his time for cost... then with an image archive we could populate both website and document release for years to come!

Do think the expression in the photo has a bit of the Bernie "shut your face" Winters about it?

Agree fully. The pictures are rubbish. I felt the same but thought it was just me - though I've mentioned elsewhere Knapmans glasses at an angle.

Petrina looks stern in her picture (stern as in severe, not as in the back end of a boat). The whole lot need new photo's.

However, to save nige the trouble, I will comment that

a) They are bad photo's on purpose
b) They'll all change very soon..........

Does anyone remember Janet G******n? Or was that before all your times?

She put herself forward for election to the NEC, using a photo of an attractive blonde. When I eventually met her she looked like Gandalf from Lord of the Rings. It turned out she had used a photo of herself from 30 years earlier!
