Default Nigel Farage to stand in Thanet South

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main...08/ixhome.html
Quote:
Nigel Farage, the UK Independence Party's leading Euro-MP, will today unveil plans to stand for Westminster in a key Labour/Tory marginal seat.

Mr Farage is expected to be adopted formally as Ukip's candidate in Thanet South, the Kent constituency formerly held by Jonathan Aitken and 15th on the Tories' list of Labour target seats. Ukip says the seat is its top target for the general election, expected next May.

The reason Aitken didn't want to stand becomes a little more clear!

Farage will make a good candidate. The constituency is up for grabs. UKIP topped the poll at the European election with 36% of the vote. Labour currently has majority of 1,400, the Tory, McGregor is trying to make inroads, but with the full support of Jonathan Aitken, who will be actively campaigning for Farage the Tories will lose many votes. As many Ukippers as possible are being sought to come and support the South Thanet campaign to make the result one to remember. Updates as we go along.

Nigel is a good fighter and would make a good MP.... although I'd rather he fight for a seat in his native sussex since people are more likely to know him.

I would hope that UKIPPERS will be to busy within there own constituencies to drop everything for one seat, the idea is to get as many seats as possible across the country.

Too right - I'd rather have 20% in all areas this round than 1 seat and a lot of lost deposits!

- this is a race people not a sprint :P

What was his reaoning for Keeping UKIP out? Why are we singled out for special treatment.

Well well, the Tories forming alliances with the Labour party, I have heard it all now!

They are scared of us.

We should do as the other parties do and have key seats. This should clearly be one of them. Think realistically - it's better to have a few seats than none at all, and we have a lot of catching up to do.
