Default Nigel Farage

Can anyone tell me why there seems to be a number of hostile comments concerning Nigel Farage. I have never met the man and so wondered why he generates such negative remarks?

Many suggest that he is the "power behind the throne". He is certainly Roger Knapman's favoured successor for the party leadership.

He is a very good public speaker, and has come across well every time I have seen or heard him speak on television/radio.

He does have a reputation for a "strong" leadership style, which is where most of the criticism arises I believe.

Yes, I am also interested to hear the reasoning behind the hate. He always responds to my mails, comes across as intelligent on TV and is a good speaker.

Certainly I think he is a bit out of tune with the party regarding standing against Eursceptic Tories, but I do understand his position. He has the ultimate goal of getting us out of the EU, and is not against co-operating with people who say they are Eurosceptic.

Normaly I would agree with this, but the Tories have proven time and time again that they can not be trusted. John Deadwood, their supposed arch-sceptic, voted FOR the Maastricht treaty. I'm sorry, but that makes him and EU supporter in my book.

I do get the slight feeling he can be a bit short and brash, but in my experience most leaders are like that, including RKS.

So please can someone tell me why Farage so bad. PM me if it is going to be libellous though, thanks!

Default Nigel Farage as leader

Let's have a leadership election NOW and then 'the preferred successor' can submit his candidature.
Personally, I like his brash, direct style. It gets attention in the media - essential!

Default My answer to Mr Farage

Well here goes,
I have never met Mr Farage but I have heard him speak & like everyone else I make my judgements on people on a variety of levels.
In the case of Mr Farage, the first words I heard him speak turned out to a lie or false, or misleading whichever you wish to use. This as you might understand can make people a little weary of him.
I have read several other comments about him both on & off this forum & he comes across (on this consolidated basis), as a self centered, egotistical, lying Politician, very much like many others in the main parties.
So whilst I am happy to be "re-educated" so to speak, I am currently of the opinion that I would not give him my vote for leadership in a rowing boat, never mind a Party election.
I hope that at least goes some way to answering your question.

Regards Peter

He's a very effective speaker and he comes across well on TV, and there's nothing wrong with an 'abrasive' style. But he runs the party as his own private fiefdom, often to the detriment of the anti-EU cause, and nothing he tells you can be trusted. If you want examples, I could be typing all night.

I have first met Nigel Farage at a public meeting during the Tottenham By Election. He is a talented speaker and I heard him many times at Public Debates UKIP Party Conference. He is not a racist as the gutter press pointed out to be.He a nice chap to have a chat and a joke with once you get to know him.I only get to know the flipside of him from the media but that 's not the point
