Nigel Farrage stated today that ' We have polled the party and they are happy with the leadership and have no wish to change it' (words to that effect)
A disgraceful lie! - NOBODY HAS ASKED ME! Tony Gardner |

I do think that senior party figures have to be careful with their language. The party is using a stance of honesty and integrity to woo voters, and that is very easily lost. Spinning a poll of branch chairman to sound like a poll of the party is a slippery slope. That is what other politicians do. I don't want UKIP's leadership doing that. If we are going to be different, let's start acting like it.

I agree, that was a disspointing bit of vagueness by Mr Farage, another brownie point deducted from by repectometer. Unfortunatly you get this in all walks of life, not just politics. People often try to bolster their case by being deliberatly vague/misleading.
Has anyone replied to your idea of a shadow cabinet yet Anthony. This is the one thing that is really annoying me at the moment. They have to engage with RKS and try and get us all pulling in the same direction. I like RKS, I like Knapman, I want the best for the party and therefore the country. Come on guys sort it out!!

Yes, I want UKIP to stand apart from the other mainstream parties as being more honest and reliable. Accuracy in what one says will run counter to being a politician. Kilroy has already learnt that mis-chosen words have repurcussions. Frankly I do expect our leaders to be faultless in the words they use.
I take extreme care (as a rule) and would expect no less of them. Sadly our whole country has given up on the proper use of english as a communication medium. |

They thought that I was joking when I suggested the shadow cabinet featuring Kilroy-Silk. I promised not to reveal who said what because I asked for a candid answer.
Let's just say, that as far as I can tell, no serious consideration is being given to any kind of compromise. The leadership is standing its ground and expecting RKS to back down. I think that we know where that is going to lead, so the betting may have to start on how many people will join the new UKIP (United Kilroy Independence Party) |

If this is the case, RKS can count on my vote after the General election. If he can show his metal by riding out this blanking out by the leadership, and run a powerful, dignified campaign for us, he will get my vote. He could get a real mandate from the party if he is treated badly now in the eyes of the UKIP membership, but proves his dedication to the cause by toughing it out!
I have to say though, I am disapointed in Farage, Knapman and co if they think this is what the party wants. Very ego driven, very good way to lose respect. rjt, I know you are a solid Knapman supporter, but you have to admit, this will not show them in a very good light.

I fully agree that a comprimise should be reached if at all possible and what seems to be happening is a hardening of both sides positions. This is regratable, I would only support RKS having the whip withdrawn if he continues to undermine the leadership, if he is prepared to play a prominant role in the general election campaign in support of Mr Knapman then I would look more favoaurably on his candiditure at a later day following the expiry of the current leaders terms. Lets not forget that he started the divisions by making an open bid for the leadership on national television during the UKIP conference that is disloyalty of the worst kind in my book. I hope that all involved in the cause do not forget the core principle that unites us, two anti EU parties at the next eleection will be a disaster.
