I believe that the open leadership bid came after the accusation that Roger Knapman had promised to stand down and call for a leadership election after the June elections. It would make some sense if RKS thought that they had agreed this and then Mr Knapman reneged on the apparent deal.
Somone isn't being entirely honest about that situation, and I don't know who. Paul Sykes, alledgedly, was present during that conversation (this might be pure rumour of course). I don't think that either the leadership or Mr Kilroy-Silk will come out of this situation looking particularly good unless they can agree to a compromise. And that seems extremely unlikely at the moment. |

As a constituency chairman I was called by UKIP to ask whether I wanted a leadership election and if so who I would vote for.
Suggested that I should consult the committee first, but it was my personal opinion that they wanted. This I gave but suggest that this is worth no more than that of an individual UKIP member (or member of the public for that matter). It's wrong of Farage to claim that he and Knapman have party support. They will only know this when Knapman wins the leadership contest which I hope he has the sense to call very soon. |

rjt, come on, your living in a dream world. RKS is the only reason UKIP got so many votes this time (mine included). Who says it's not right for anyone to want to be a leader, if RKS has shown himself to be the better person (which he has), then ask the party proper & not just a bunch of yes men. Definately do not say you have asked the party when you have only asked a small group.

I have never disputed the role RKS played in the Euro Elections but I feel people overstate it somewhat. UKIP would have done well without him, more and more people are seeing what a scandal the EU actually is. What we have to do now is encourage people to have the courage to back us in a general election where seats are harder to win under the first past the post system. My feeling has always been this will be easier as a united force, RKS open bid for the leadership has got UKIP INTO phpbb_the news again but for the wrong reasons, we are fighting the establishment here and they will take any opptunity to stamp on us.

The NEc have offered R-KS everything, including leading the Election campaign, except the leadership.
He refuses to accept anything other than the Leadership.
