Default British TV

Why when I watch Sky, just about every channel I watch is has US programs on? Is Sky ashamed of British TV? IS Sky run by a yank?

What about UKtv Gold?

Personally, I think there is some good television that comes out of America. I don't think there's anything wrong with it being shown here - after all they still show the classics of British TV (too many to list, so not going to bother )

I refuse to pay to watch TV full stop so cannot comment on Sky and I can't really give any positive feedback on American programmes as most of them are rubbish, especially what they consider 'comedy'. They also have a habit of using really annoying child actors in their films, they are too contrived, unnatural, unconvincing. Sorry Yanks, but you just don't cut it.

Nothing wrong with American TV. It's cheerful and wholesome to give people a positivity inside but that's just my opinion. Some people may or may not like it. I personally think British-made TV programmes dried up like old teabags.

Maybe the Americans who are not Yanks have a different sense of humour?

I've recently got satellite, but sticking to Freeview.

Sky appears to me poor value for money, unless you are heavily into US.
But you know that when you subscribe.

Well, there isn't much British TV. It more or less fits on the terresrial channels with room to spare for repeats.

The USA on the other hand, churns out enough **** to fill 900 stations.

Ah, now I have to admit that a majority of their programs are British, but they also show a lot of US programs as well. Such as Charlies Angels (and there is only one reason to watch that )

Sadly there is a lot of rubbisdh that comes out of the US as well, and it seems to be snapped up by Sky.

Not sure which programs you have been watching, but I have obviously have been not watching the ones that you have.

How can you say that British TV is like dried up olf teabags (are you one of these self loathing apologists?). Take Only fools and Horses, or even the Vicar of Dibly, Black Adder etc. If you consider those programs to be stale teabags then you must be a yankee doodle!

I agree. I find very few US comedies funny. I remember watching Borat and there was a little segment in that with a US comedian that summed US comedy up.
